The Role
The School of Social Sciences and Humanities at Coventry University is recruiting for a Lecturer (Teaching) in Psychology to join our academic team. This full-time permanent position requires a passion for teaching of this subject area coupled with a preferred research and scholarly background in one or more of the following areas: counselling, business and organisational psychology, forensic psychology, sports and exercise psychology and cognitive and behavioural psychology.
The School is a vibrant, interdisciplinary community of teachers, researchers and students. Based on a modern campus in the heart of the city centre, we offer a wide range of Social Science and Humanities degrees, including programmes in: Psychology; Creative Writing; English; Philosophy; History; International Relations; Politics; Sociology, Criminology and Forensic investigations. Our Successful Candidate
We are particularly interested in candidates who will help lead the evolution and development of the School’s Psychology provision at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Someone with the vision to address the demands of teaching in the twenty-first century and who recognises the need for new ways of engaging with the subject and how this new pedagogy can be explored and developed creatively through new technologies. Knowledge of higher education processes is important and experience of teaching through workshops, seminars, lectures, and assessment is essential to the role.
You will have demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education levels 4-7 in Psychology with high standards of teaching, learning and student engagement consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning.
Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will have experience supporting, enhancing and engaging in an ‘active learning’ pedagogy with evidence in proactively supporting student success.
As a global education provider, experience and awareness of learners cultural differences and expectations with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds is essential.
Innovation and collaboration are key to our success, therefore the ability to work both independently and part of a wider team with the willingness to engage in flexible ways of working are key skills required for this role.
