The overall purpose is to provide a full, proactive and flexible contribution to the Faculty and University through:

You will offer a compelling blend of clinical expertise and academic capability, with transferable skills in autonomous practice, leadership, safeguarding, family‑centred care and evidence‑based decision‑making enabling you to translate real‑world experience into meaningful learning for Midwifery students.

These strengths position you to support high‑quality teaching across the School of Nursing and Midwifery, enriching midwifery programmes with authentic insight, developmental understanding and interprofessional perspectives. Alongside this, your ability to design and deliver innovative, engaging and blended learning, lead modules, contribute to curriculum development and uphold quality assurance processes establishes you as an effective educator.

Your strong communication, professionalism, adaptability and commitment to inclusion ensure you create a supportive, ethical and high‑performing learning environment for diverse undergraduate learners, including those preparing to care for women and their families. 

Qualifications

Essential;

  • Degree qualification or equivalent in relevant subject 
  • NMC registration
  • Professional Recognition as HEA Fellow (D2) or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timescale 

Desirable;

  • Master’s degree in relevant subject 
  • Doctorate in relevant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion
  • Relevant professional qualification 

Faculty/Department

 The School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Northampton is a well‑established provider of high‑quality pre‑registration and post‑registration healthcare education, offering programmes across Adult, Mental Health, Learning Disability, and Children and Young People’s Nursing, as well as Midwifery and Nursing Associate routes.

The School is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council and is recognised nationally for strong student outcomes and an applied, practice‑focused curriculum.

Teaching is delivered through the University’s active blended learning model, supported by modern simulation facilities and extensive clinical placement partnerships with NHS trusts, community providers and the independent sector.

Midwifery programmes hold UNICEF Baby Friendly Gold accreditation, and the School emphasises interprofessional learning, compassionate practice, and the development of confident, capable practitioners equipped to meet contemporary healthcare challenges.
