About the role

The Centre for Languages Culture and Communication at Imperial College is looking for a Teaching Fellow in Creative Performance to join our Humanities & Social Sciences (HSS) team. As Teaching Fellow in Creative Performance, you will join our team of over twenty HSS staff, who work on the Horizons undergraduate courses as well as on our Imperial after: hours Adult Education Programme. The role involves teaching primarily undergraduate students from a scientific, technical, or medical background.

What you would be doing

In this role you will design, develop and deliver engaging face-to-face learning sessions, with a specific focus on Psychology of Performance, for Imperial’s STEMMB undergraduate students.

What we are looking for

We are looking for an individual with proven competence in teaching the Psychology of Performance. You will have experience in teaching Psychology of Performance at a university undergraduate level, as well as relevant team working, administration and assessment skills. To be successful in this post, you will be able to work flexibly as part of a team in an open-minded and cooperative manner, with strong communication and organisational skills. This position will suit an individual with an understanding of the needs of undergraduate STEMB students, and who is able to travel to west London on a weekly basis to deliver the course on a face-to-face basis.

What we can offer you

The CLCC has a central role within Imperial College with our Horizons and I Explore modules embedded within every undergraduate degree of this world leading institution. You will join a large team of teaching staff with interests across a broad range of subjects in languages, the humanities, arts, and social sciences.

As well as the extensive staff development programme offered by the University, CLCC staff, their family and friends can also make use of a generous fee discount for our adult education courses.

Further information

  • This is a part time sessional post, with variable hours agreed annually, based on student demand.
  • Teaching for this module takes place on Thursdays from 4-6pm. Term dates are available here.
  • The agreed hourly rate of pay for undergraduate HSS teaching per teaching hour is £109.34, not including holiday pay. Each ‘teaching hour’ includes an additional allocation for preparation of the course, administration and other necessary non-teaching duties and is equivalent to 3hrs 30mins of work.
  • In the first instance, this is a variable hours post based on 40 teaching hours over 20 weeks though there may be further opportunities to teach on other modules subject to student recruitment.
  • We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from international candidates, however - due to the very part-time nature of this role, this vacancy will not meet the requirements for sponsorship under the skilled worker visa route, so any successful applicant would need to hold or be able to independently secure a visa with UK right to work.
  • For further details on the role, please contact: Dr Michael Weatherburn (HSS Field Leader) on michael.weatherburn@imperial.ac.uk.

Posting End Date: 3 September 2026
