Edge Hill University is seeking an exceptional Vice-Chancellor to lead a successful, distinctive and ambitious university into its next chapter.
Edge Hill occupies a special place in UK higher education. It has the scale, academic breadth and influence of a major university while retaining a close-knit culture in which leadership is visible and people feel a genuine sense of belonging. Its commitment to widening opportunity is deeply rooted, and its work in education, research and knowledge exchange makes an important contribution to the North West and beyond.
This is an opportunity to lead from a position of strength. Edge Hill is financially sound, has an outstanding campus and is recognised for the quality of its student experience. The next Vice-Chancellor will build on these foundations, protecting the University’s distinctive character while strengthening education, research, innovation and external engagement.
Accountable to the Board of Governors, the Vice-Chancellor will provide clear strategic and academic leadership, develop and lead a strong Executive team, and ensure the University remains financially resilient and well governed. They will also be a persuasive advocate for Edge Hill, building productive relationships with students, staff, partners, policymakers and communities regionally, nationally and internationally.
Substantial executive-level leadership experience within UK higher education is essential. Candidates will bring a strong record of leading complex organisations through change, sound financial and commercial judgement, and a thorough understanding of academic governance and the regulatory environment.
Edge Hill is looking for an authentic, visible and emotionally intelligent leader who listens carefully, builds trust and brings people together. They will help Edge Hill respond confidently to changes in technology, student expectations, regulation and the wider higher education environment, making clear choices about where the University can achieve the greatest impact.
