We have an exciting opportunity in the School of Medicine and Population Health for a Clinical Research Fellow with a passion for clinical neurophysiology and research into neurological and neurodegenerative disorders.

The role will involve supporting clinical research studies investigating neurophysiological biomarkers of neurological disease. The Clinical Research Fellow will work within a multidisciplinary clinical and research team to recruit and assess patients and undertake high-quality neurophysiological assessments, including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), electromyography (EMG) and peripheral nerve excitability recordings. The role will also involve clinical assessments and, where required, blood sampling and other research procedures. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of clinical research studies, ensuring that study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and relevant clinical governance requirements are followed.

The successful candidate will be clinically qualified, hold full registration with the General Medical Council and a current Licence to Practise, and hold MRCP or an equivalent postgraduate qualification. You will have experience in clinical neurophysiology and the assessment of patients with neurological conditions. Practical experience of TMS, EMG and peripheral nerve excitability techniques is essential, including experience of obtaining high-quality neurophysiological recordings from patients. Experience of clinical research and working within GCP frameworks would be advantageous.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work accurately and effectively within a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be expected to manage clinical research activities, work independently within their clinical competencies and contribute to the safe and effective delivery of patient-facing research.

This is a part-time position and is ideally suited to an individual wishing to integrate clinical research alongside their clinical or academic training. The role offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in clinical neurophysiology and translational research within a well-established, collaborative and supportive research environment.
