About the role

The Department of Biology, University of Oxford, is seeking a Research Assistant (G6) to support ResIntegrate, an ERC Consolidator Grant led by Prof. Rob Salguero-Gómez. ResIntegrate aims to develop an integrative theory of ecological resilience, examine its macroecology, and test how resilience scales from individuals to populations and communities under interacting disturbances. The post holder will contribute to research using global demographic databases and the DRAGNet grassland network, with emphasis on data curation, ecological analysis and reproducible research.

Main responsibilities and duties

Curate, quality-assure and document demographic, functional-trait and community datasets; collect and manage field data at the Oxford DRAGNet site; conduct analyses in R and contribute to structured population modelling, including IPM/MPM-based analyses; link demographic data with disturbance and environmental covariates; prepare figures, reports and publication material; and work collaboratively with the ResIntegrate team and partner networks.

About you

Skills and experience required

You should have experience in ecological research and quantitative data analysis, confidence using R, careful data-management skills, and the ability to follow established field or laboratory protocols. Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to organise your own work are essential. Experience with demographic modelling, ecological databases, functional traits, spatial/environmental data or field ecology is desirable.

Qualifications

A first degree in ecology, biology, environmental science, statistics, or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent qualification/experience.
