About The Role

Administrator, NIHR ARC South West 

This part-time (0.5 FTE) post is immediately available. This post is offered on a permanent basis and is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) South West between 1st September 2026 and 31st March 2031, in the first instance. In line with the University’s fair employment for all principles, our goal is to create more opportunities for career growth and stability for each employee.

Salary will be £30,878 per annum pro rata on Grade D subject to knowledge, skills and experience.

This role is office based. 

Interviews are expected to take place on Tuesday 10th November 2026.

The role 

This role will provide general and specialist administrative support within the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) South West. Key responsibilities for this role include providing colleagues and stakeholders with information relating to finance and budgets; communications and marketing; making travel, accommodation and room bookings, and arranging meetings and events (online and offline). The role requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work and communicate successfully with a broad range of stakeholders and audiences. 

The post-holder will be expected to work flexibly and with initiative in an evolving environment, within a supportive team. Excellent numeracy and literary skills, as well as attention to detail and good time management are essential. This post is situated within the Project Support Team of the NIHR ARC South West. The team, which includes colleagues from the Universities of Exeter, Plymouth and Bristol, provides operational, programme management, administrative and communications support to the wider research group.  

NIHR ARC South West is a large research group based across a number of organisations. We work closely with health and social care professionals, members of the public and local communities to address issues facing the health and care system through applied research and ensure the needs of our national populations are met.
