An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a UKCRC-registered trials unit as a Research Assistant (Grade 5) or Research Associate (Grade 6) in Statistics. Appointments will be made based on successfully demonstrating the relevant experience for the grade. Please make it clear which grade you are applying for in your application and make sure that your application addresses the relevant criteria outlined in the person specification for that grade.  The Centre for Trials Research currently hosts the largest statistical team in Cardiff University and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a range of studies which involve wide variety statistical methods. The post holder will contribute to the design, management, analysis publication and dissemination of research.

 With knowledge of the design and analysis of randomised clinical studies, multivariate statistical techniques, and the use of statistical analysis packages, you will have a good first degree with a major statistical component. You will require excellent IT and communication skills (written and verbal), and a proven ability to deliver research studies to a required deadline and quality. Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice is required, as well as Data Protection and guidelines for the reporting of high quality studies. This position would suit an individual with a willingness to learn, and the ability to motivate others and communicate statistical ideas to non-statisticians.

This position is full-time (35 hours per week), fixed-term and available from 1 September 2026 until 30 September 2029. However, this post is subject to a review process and may therefore be extended (or converted to open-ended).

Salary:

£33,951 - £36,636 per annum (Grade 5) or
£41,064 - £46,049 per annum (Grade 6).
