Location: Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, South Parks Road, Oxford
We are seeking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Head of Human Resources, Joint Head of Operations to join the Dunn School of Pathology, a thriving medical research and teaching department within the University of Oxford. Working in close partnership with the Head of Department and other senior academic and administrative staff, you will play a central role in the strategic management of the Dunn School.
Reporting directly to the Head of Department, you will manage all aspects of the recruitment and retention of world-class academic and research staff to ensure we attract and retain the skills and talent needed to support our research and teaching goals. You will provide leadership on the management of complex HR issues, including disciplinary, grievance proceedings, employee relations, TUPE transfers and reorganisations. The post holder will also co-lead, with two other senior managers, the administration team within the Department. This will involve creating, implementing, maintaining and improving the Department’s administrative procedures and systems.
You will be educated to degree level and have comprehensive experience of providing high quality HR support and advice. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and gain the confidence of a wide range of staffing groups including academics, researchers and support staff. You should have strong organisational skills to manage and prioritise a wide-ranging workload and competing deadlines. Previous experience of working in higher education is desirable but not essential.
