An exciting opportunity to join Solent University’s Student Success Team to provide dedicated support to disabled students and improve student retention and success through proactive interventions.

Are you passionate about creating inclusive learning environments and empowering disabled students to achieve their potential? Solent University is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Disability Adviser to join our Student Success Directorate and play a vital role in supporting students throughout their higher education journey.

At Solent University, Student Success is dedicated to helping every student thrive. We provide holistic, inclusive and student-centred support that enables students to overcome barriers, develop confidence and achieve their academic and personal goals. As a Disability Adviser, you will contribute to this mission by delivering specialist advice and guidance to disabled and neurodivergent students from application through to graduation.

In this varied and rewarding role, you will work directly with students to identify learning needs, develop personalised support plans and recommend reasonable adjustments that enable successful participation in university life. You will support students with a broad range of disabilities and conditions, including neurodivergence, sensory impairments, mobility difficulties, long-term health conditions and mental health challenges.

You will manage a complex caseload, respond to day-to-day enquiries, participate in the Duty Practitioner rota and collaborate closely with academic schools, professional services and external stakeholders. The role also includes contributing to transition programmes, delivering workshops and presentations, supporting staff development through training and guidance, and leading projects that enhance accessibility, awareness and inclusion across the University.

We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong understanding of disability, neurodiversity, inclusion and relevant legislation within higher education. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience managing complex casework, and a proven ability to build collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. A positive, flexible and solution-focused approach is essential, alongside a commitment to delivering exceptional student support.

Further details regarding the role and responsibilities can be found in the job description. For any queries about the role, please contact Rebecca Harris, Disability Advice Team Leader on rebecca.harris@solent.ac.uk.
