The School of Life Sciences is large and diverse, and provides a vibrant research and teaching environment. We conduct research in four main areas comprising: Ecology and Environmental Microbiology, Genomics and Computational Biology, Plant Productivity, and Protein Structure and Mechanisms of Disease. All our research groups are highly active and well placed to deliver an excellent performance in the next Research Excellence Framework (REF). Teaching is informed by our research, and students develop a range of analytical, laboratory and field skills. 

Duties of the Role

We seek a full-time postdoctoral researcher to undertake genome annotation and comparative genomics research as part of a NERC-funded investigation into skeletal development in corals.

Skills and Qualifications

A Relevant doctoral level (PhD) degree in Genomics/Computer Science/Bioinformatics or equivalent professional experience or practice or be close to completion of PhD in a relevant subject is an essential requirement for the role. The successful person will have the  ability to plan and work independently and have experience developing and running complex workflows on large-scale computer clusters. Experience in genome assembly and comparative genomic analyses is also essential.

This is a fixed term position for 12 months.
