Technical Demonstator in Engineering

THE ROLE

This role is responsible for the planning, development and safe delivery of technical workshop activities within motorsport, automotive engineering and race vehicle preparation. The post holder will demonstrate equipment, materials, processes and vehicle systems to support engineering programmes, while supervising and assisting students undertaking practical work, projects and race team activities.

Key duties include the preparation, maintenance, set-up and operation of race cars and other vehicles, including support for testing and race events as required. The post holder will oversee workshop and stores equipment, manage stock control, and ensure facilities are maintained in a clean, safe and secure condition. They may also be required to support other engineering workshops when necessary.

Working closely with colleagues, the post holder will provide technical support to students across all levels, set up and maintain specialist equipment, and demonstrate the use of relevant workshop technologies, software and industry practices. They will contribute to interdisciplinary activities across the Institute and support the organisation of events and exhibitions both on and off campus.

The role also requires engagement in research and professional development activities to ensure technical knowledge remains current and enhances the student learning experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate a professional and enthusiastic approach, a commitment to student-centred learning, and the ability to support a safe, effective and inspiring workshop environment.
