About us

UCL is a global university where our students are at the heart of everything we do. With more than 50,000 students, our Student Support and Wellbeing Services (SSWS) play an important role in ensuring that every student can access the advice, information and support they need to thrive during their time at UCL.

Within Student and Registry Services, SSWS provides information, advice and welfare support to our diverse student community, alongside events and initiatives designed to promote wellbeing, connection and belonging.

About the role

You will work alongside Student Advisers and colleagues across SSWS to provide accessible, responsive and student-centred support.

You will be one of the first points of contact for students accessing SSWS, responding to enquiries, supporting students through 1:1 appointments and helping them navigate the range of support available across UCL. You will take the time to listen to students, understand their circumstances and ensure they feel heard, valued and appropriately supported.

A key part of the role will be supporting students who are transitioning into university life, as well as proactively engaging with priority groups of students. You will reach out to students to check on their wellbeing and progress, help them settle into life at UCL and encourage them to engage with relevant support and opportunities.

You will also contribute to a strong sense of community and belonging by helping to plan and deliver wellbeing events, workshops and initiatives throughout the academic year.

Please note: We have two fixed-term positions available until the end of July 2027: one full-time and one part-time (0.5 FTE). The roles operate hybrid working with a minimum of 2-3 days per week onsite at our Bloomsbury campus (subject to change).

At the top of your application questionnaire, please indicate whether you would like to be considered for both positions, or for one position only. If you are applying for one position, please specify whether you wish to be considered for the full-time or part-time role.

About you

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting students and committed to delivering an inclusive, compassionate and high-quality service.

You will have experience of supporting others, ideally within an educational, health or social care environment, and experience of advising students or individuals on a range of wellbeing-related matters. You will be confident communicating with people from diverse backgrounds and able to listen carefully, respond with empathy and exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive or challenging situations.

You will be highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and deadlines, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate and confidential records.

What we offer

As well as exciting opportunities, UCL offers a range of great benefits. Find out more: UCL Rewards and Benefits.
