The Medical Research Council Toxicology Unit is an internationally renowned institution which delivers field-changing mechanistic insights into toxicology & disease and in 2027 will become the centre for Safety Science, within the Department of Biochemistry in Cambridge. 

We are looking to appoint an Executive Manager (EM) who will be responsible for the strategic oversight of all activities linked to industry engagement, maintaining existing partnerships with external stakeholders and seeking out and developing new ones.

In particular, the EM will be responsible for the project management of the MRC Prosperity Partnership including the strategic alignment of the award's impacts with other Prosperity Partnership grant holders. In this role the EM will independently lead the coordination of the multi-partner (academia and industry) MRC Prosperity Partnership to ensure effective delivery across all work packages and ensure strategic alignment with other award holders. 

The Executive Manager will oversee additional Industrial Liaison activities and provide strategic oversight during the transition to the centre for Safety Science.

The EM will also manage the Integrative Toxicology Training Partnership (ITTP) PhD training programme (managed by the MRC Toxicology Unit on behalf of the MRC) and contribute to the UK-wide strategy for toxicology training.  

Overall, the Executive Manager will help to support industry engagement to maximise the impact of cutting-edge research. 

The successful candidate must hold a PhD in biological sciences and have a general understanding of toxicology and key issues associated with medicines safety and drug development. You will have links with a variety of stakeholders and experience of the UK HE Sector. Strong interpersonal skills are required together with project management experience. 

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 August 2030 in the first instance.
