The University of Greater Manchester is seeking an ambitious and innovative Digital Education Lead to drive the strategic development of digital learning across the School of Health, Science & Society.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of digitally enhanced education within a rapidly evolving higher education environment. Working closely with the Executive Head of School, senior academic leaders, professional services and wider university stakeholders, the successful candidate will lead the implementation of the School’s Digital Learning Strategy and support transformational approaches to teaching, learning and assessment.

The role will focus on advancing high-quality online, blended and asynchronous learning provision, enhancing staff digital capability, supporting inclusive curriculum design, and embedding innovative educational technologies across the School. The postholder will also provide strategic leadership for the development and optimisation of the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and associated digital learning systems.

We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking individual with expertise in digital education, online learning, learning technologies, or technology enhanced learning within higher education or professional learning environments. Applicants should demonstrate strong leadership, communication and change management skills, alongside experience of supporting academic teams to deliver engaging and student-centred digital learning experiences.

The successful candidate will have:
  • Significant experience of digital education, online learning, blended learning or technology enhanced learning within higher education or professional learning environments
  • Experience of leading or supporting digital transformation initiatives in education
  • Knowledge of digital pedagogy, instructional design and emerging educational technologies
  • Experience of supporting staff development and digital capability enhancement
  • An understanding of accessibility, inclusive curriculum design and student-centred approaches to learning
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and organisational skills

While experience within health education or healthcare disciplines would be advantageous, we warmly encourage applications from candidates with broader digital education, instructional design, learning technology, online learning or educational innovation backgrounds.

This is an evolving and strategically important role with opportunities to influence institutional practice, contribute to sector innovation, and represent the University externally through professional networks and partnerships.
