We're looking for a Student Advisor (Money Support) to deliver specialist student money advice and tuition fee debt support, helping students navigate financial challenges and remain engaged with their studies. Using a structured case-management approach, you'll work closely with students and colleagues across multiple teams to identify barriers, develop tailored support plans and agree sustainable solutions. You'll play a key role in supporting student success and retention while helping the University manage tuition fee debt effectively, consistently and fairly. 

You'll support by: 

  • Delivering an inclusive and accessible student money advice service, tailored to the individual needs and circumstances of students. 
  • Managing a caseload of students with tuition fee arrears, using a case-management approach to provide proactive intervention and personalised support plans. 
  • Working in partnership with Academic Schools, Finance, Student Services, Global Engagement and external funding bodies to resolve complex financial issues and advocate for students. 
  • Supporting students to develop budgeting and money management skills, promoting financial resilience and identifying appropriate sources of additional support. 
  • Using data and student insight to identify patterns, risks and emerging issues, enabling early intervention and improving student outcomes. 
  • Identifying students who may be at risk of tuition fee arrears and delivering early intervention activity that encourages engagement, reduces financial risk and supports student retention.

What you’ll bring 

You'll bring experience of working in a support or advice-giving environment, with the ability to build trust and provide practical guidance to individuals facing complex challenges. Comfortable holding sensitive and supportive conversations, you'll help students navigate financial pressures, understand their options and develop realistic plans that support their continued engagement with their studies. 

You'll be an effective communicator who can build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, delivering a high-quality, student-focused service. With a strong understanding of the factors that can affect student success, you'll be able to assess individual circumstances, make informed decisions and contribute to positive outcomes for students. Organised, proactive and solution-focused, you'll be confident managing competing priorities while maintaining a professional, inclusive and supportive approach. 

Additionally you'll: 

  • Have knowledge of the Higher Education sector and an understanding of the academic, financial, personal and wellbeing factors that can impact student success, engagement and retention. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of student funding and financial support provision, enabling you to provide accurate information and practical guidance to students 
  • Have experience of working with diverse communities, adapting your approach to meet differing needs and providing inclusive, culturally aware support. 
  • Be able to work collaboratively across multiple teams and services, building effective relationships to achieve positive outcomes for students. 
  • Possess strong organisational, communication, IT and numerical skills, with the ability to manage a varied caseload, analyse information and contribute to continuous service improvement.
