The English Department of the Faculty of Arts, University of Lausanne, invites applications for the post of Assistant Professor (tenure track directly to Professor Ordinaire [Full Professor]) in Modern English Literature. We welcome applications from candidates with specialisations in Victorian literature, Modernism, and/or modern poetry.

Contract length*: 2 years, renewable 2 x 2 years, maximum 6 years
Activity rate: 100%
Workplace: Lausanne-Dorigny
* The person appointed as tenure-track Assistant Professor will be hired for a term of two years, renewable twice on the proposal of the Dean's Office. In principle, an evaluation procedure will be initiated at the end of the 8th semester, i.e. at the start of the third two-year term. At the end of this procedure, the Faculty may propose the promotion of the candidate to the rank of Professor Ordinaire (Full Professor).
Your activities
Teaching
The succesful candidate will be expected to teach 4 hours per week at the Bachelor's and Master's levels during the pre-tenure period (6 hours per week after tenure). They will also contribute to the coordination and supervision of examinations, as well as to the mentoring and supervision of students research work.
Research
The successful candidate will develop an independant research agenda while contributing to collaborative research projects. They will actively engage in scholarly activities and participate in national and international research collaborations, including initiatives such as CUSO doctoral programme in English Studies.
Institutional engagement
The successful candidate will collaborate with other sections, programmes, and research centres within the Faculty. They will contribute to inter-institutional collaborations and participate in the administrative duties associated with the life of the Section, the Faculty and the University. They should be able to work effectively in a bilingual English-French environment, as French is the official language used for Faculty - and University - level meetings and correspondance.
