Role Summary

The Associate Director of Campus Operations is responsible for ensuring that LCCA London campuses operate safely, efficiently, consistently and effectively, providing the physical and operational conditions required for an excellent student and staff experience. The Associate Director will provide clear institutional ownership of campus readiness, operational standards, capacity utilisation, service assurance and coordination between campus-facing functions.

Key responsibilities

1. Campus Operations and Readiness

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for campus operations across LCCA.
  • Ensure campuses are operationally ready for teaching, enrolment, events and other institutional activity.
  • Establish clear standards for opening, closing, daily readiness, incident management and service continuity.
  • Identify operational risks and ensure timely escalation and resolution.

2. Student Hub and Campus-Facing Services

  • Provide oversight and assurance of Student Hub operational performance.
  • Work with the Student Services Director and other departments to ensure campus-facing support is coordinated and accessible.
  • Monitor service levels, queues, demand, complaints and recurring operational issues.
  • Ensure operational arrangements support a positive and inclusive student experience.

3. Estates, Facilities, Health and Safety

  • Act as the senior Professional Services link between operational leadership and Estates/Facilities functions.
  • Coordinate with relevant colleagues on maintenance, cleaning, security, access, repairs and environmental standards.
  • Support effective implementation and monitoring of health and safety arrangements.
  • Ensure operational incidents are appropriately recorded, investigated and escalated.

4. Capacity and Resource Utilisation

  • Lead operational oversight of campus and classroom capacity utilisation.
  • Work with academic and professional services colleagues to identify capacity pressures and opportunities.
  • Support planning for new intakes, changes in delivery patterns and future campus requirements.
  • Promote efficient use of space and operational resources.

5. Cross-Campus Consistency

  • Develop and maintain common operational standards across campuses.
  • Identify variations in practice and implement action plans to improve consistency.
  • Promote a culture of service excellence, ownership and continuous improvement.

6. Service Assurance and Performance

  • Establish appropriate operational KPIs and management information.
  • Undertake or commission service reviews and operational audits.
  • Monitor performance against agreed standards and report material risks and issues to the Deputy Managing Director.
  • Ensure agreed corrective actions are implemented and tracked.

7. Strategic Planning and Growth

  • Contribute to institutional planning for future growth and campus development.
  • Assess operational implications of new programmes, delivery models, campuses and services.
  • Ensure operational resilience and continuity planning reflect the scale and complexity of LCCA.

8. Leadership and Collaboration

  • Work closely with Directors and Heads across Professional Services to provide joined-up operational delivery.
  • Build effective relationships with academic leadership, Estates, Facilities, Student Services, Registry, Quality and other functions.
  • Provide clear leadership, direction and accountability to operational teams.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential :

  • Significant operational leadership experience in a complex organisation; experience of multi-site operations; experience of service standards, operational assurance and cross-functional working.
  • Strong understanding of operational management, service delivery, risk, health and safety interfaces, capacity planning and performance management.
  • Ability to lead teams, influence senior stakeholders and establish clear accountability.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, planning, prioritisation, data interpretation and stakeholder management.

Desirable :

  • Higher education or comparable education-sector experience; experience of major campus expansion or transformation; relevant professional qualification.
