Description of Post

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead out on the development of the Department of Sport, Exercise and Nutrition on the Galway campus.

The Head of Department role requires significant organisational, leadership and communication skills. The successful applicant will form part of the School Management Team along with the Head of School and the two other heads of department within the School.

The Head of Department of Sport, Exercise and Nutrition will be responsible for the management of the undergraduate programmes BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science, BSc (Hons) Public Health Nutrition, and BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching and related postgraduate programmes.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants for this position must have as a minimum:  

• A relevant first or second class Honours degree from a recognised awarding authority.
• Not less than five years relevant and acceptable post qualification experience in a Health, Sport Science, Exercise Science, Nutrition or related discipline.

Applicants must have the necessary technical and administrative expertise to lead and manage professional teams to develop and deliver relevant programmes of study which respond to the needs of students, industry and the wider community.
