The Careers Research and Advisory Centre (CRAC) is an independent and trusted provider of expertise on careers in research. CRAC manages Vitae, a sector-leading programme supporting the professional and career development of researchers, and works with universities, funders, learned societies and other organisations in the UK and internationally.

We're looking for a Research and Evaluation Manager to join our Policy and Engagement team and help deliver a growing portfolio of research and evaluation projects. You'll lead discrete projects and workstreams, contributing to mixed-methods research and evaluation including surveys, interviews, focus groups and evidence reviews. You'll work closely with clients, funders and partners to generate robust evidence and translate findings into practical insight that informs policy and practice.

About the role

As part of a small and collaborative team, you'll contribute to research and evaluation projects spanning researcher careers, doctoral education, research culture, workforce development and wider research policy.

The role combines project delivery, research design, data collection and analysis, evaluation, stakeholder engagement and reporting. You'll work across quantitative and qualitative methods, contributing to surveys, interviews, focus groups, evidence reviews and evaluations, and helping clients and partners make effective use of evidence and insight.

About you

You'll have experience delivering research and evaluation projects and be comfortable working across both quantitative and qualitative methods. You'll be able to design and analyse surveys, undertake statistical and qualitative analysis, contribute to evaluations and communicate findings clearly to different audiences.

You may currently be working in higher education, a research organisation, consultancy, learned society, charity, funder or policy environment. Most importantly, you'll be intellectually curious, analytically strong and motivated by using evidence to improve researcher development, research culture and research environments.
