Lecturer (Person-Centred Psychotherapy)

Contract type: Fixed Term until 31 July 2027

Hours per week: 14 hours per week (0.4 FTE)

Working pattern: Varies according to programme delivery, likely to include some weekend and evening working.

Our Lecturers provide academic leadership that ensures high-quality teaching, learning and student success. They lead on curriculum development, assessment, quality assurance and module delivery while supporting staff and students.

Due to continued growth in our student numbers, we are looking for UKCP accredited, or equivalent, Person-Centred psychotherapists. Ideally, you’ll also have either a teaching qualification such as PG Cert or HE FHEA (or equivalent), or an interest in psychotherapy education and a willingness to work towards gaining a Metanoia sponsored teaching qualification.

We offer flexible working patterns including weekend teaching in person as well as working online remotely. Being a part of our warm, welcoming and supportive team, you’ll play a key role in educating and nurturing students, teaching research methodologies and supervising research.

You’ll engage in training for pedagogy and research, seek mentoring and participate in peer observation, build professional networks inside and outside the Institute, and be an active representative of Metanoia Institute on key professional bodies and committees, external events, conferences and seminars. You’ll also contribute to the production of sector journal articles or reviews and be committed to equality, diversity and inclusive learning and practice.

• UKCP accreditation, or equivalent, as a Person-Centred psychotherapist.
• Knowledge of current issues and opportunities in the wider world of counselling, psychotherapy and academia, and related debates within the professional and academic fields.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to work effectively under your own initiative.
• Teaching qualification in higher education (e.g. PGCertHE / Fellowship of Advance HE) or willingness to obtain one.
• Experience designing curriculum, module content and learning resources.
• Experience setting, marking, moderating and quality assuring assessments.
• Experience supporting diverse student groups, including students with additional learning needs.
• Experience using virtual learning environments such as Moodle and Microsoft Teams.
