About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a business intelligence professional to make an impact within the Strategy, Planning and Analytics Service at the University of Plymouth. The Strategy, Planning and Analytics Service supports strategy development and delivery by managing strategic projects, delivering the planning process and providing data and insights to customers across the University.

As a Senior Business Intelligence Officer, you will play an important role in developing the University's data and analytics capability, helping to ensure that decision-makers have access to trusted, high-quality information that supports planning, performance monitoring and strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the development and enhancement of the University's data lake and wider data infrastructure in line with the University Data Strategy.
  • Developing, maintaining and improving forecasting models and dashboards used to predict student application numbers and support recruitment planning.
  • Designing and delivering high-quality reporting, analytics and self-service business intelligence solutions for a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to improve the accessibility, quality and effective use of institutional data.

For this role, you will need to be on site 3 days a week. Although we can accommodate working from home for this role, flexibility to be on-site will be expected due to business needs.

What we’re looking for

You will:

  • Be an experienced business intelligence professional with a strong understanding of data management, analytics and reporting
  • Be confident working with complex datasets and translating technical information into meaningful insight for a range of audiences
  • Have experience of working with a range of Higher Education datasets and performance measures will enable you to provide high-quality analysis and support evidence-based decision-making across the University.

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of developing and managing business intelligence, reporting or analytics solutions.
  • Strong data engineering and data management skills, including experience of data warehousing or data lake environments.
  • Experience of developing forecasts, predictive models, dashboards and reports to support operational or strategic decision-making.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality, customer-focused services.
