The Role

The successful candidate will redesign and teach an existing undergraduate course in Nutrition and Disease Prevention for nursing students enrolled on the Providence College programme in London.

The post-holder will:

• Adapt and update existing course materials for delivery within the London programme.
• Design engaging learning activities and assessments.
• Deliver approximately 40 contact teaching hours across a 12-week semester.
• Support student learning and academic development.
• Contribute to assessment, marking, and final examination processes.
• Provide a high-quality, student-centred learning experience for an international cohort.

Preparatory work will take place during Autumn 2026, with teaching beginning in January 2027.

About the Course

Nutrition and Disease Prevention explores the relationship between nutrition, health, and disease prevention, with particular emphasis on nursing and healthcare practice.

Topics include:

• Digestion and nutrient absorption
• Energy metabolism and hydration
• Gut microbiome health
• Macronutrients, vitamins, and minerals
• Nutritional requirements across the lifespan
• Food labelling and dietary assessment
• Weight management and physical activity
• Cardiovascular disease
• Hypertension
• Diabetes mellitus
• Osteoporosis
• Renal and gastrointestinal disorders
• Cancer prevention and nutrition
• Infectious disease and immune health
• Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S)
• Food safety, allergens, and additives

Through case studies, practical dietary planning, field-based learning, and analysis of current research, students develop the skills required to integrate nutrition knowledge into patient education, health promotion, disease prevention, and multidisciplinary healthcare practice.

About You

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative educator with expertise in nutrition, dietetics, public health, health sciences, or a closely related discipline.

You will have:

Essential Criteria

• A PhD in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, Health Sciences, Nursing, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience teaching at undergraduate level within higher education.
• Strong subject knowledge in nutrition, health promotion, and disease prevention.
• Experience developing and delivering engaging, student-centred teaching.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse and international student groups.
• Right to work in the UK without restriction.

Desirable Criteria

• Experience teaching nursing, allied health, or health sciences students.
• Experience with curriculum design or module development.
• Familiarity with US higher education systems or study abroad programmes.
• Professional or industry experience in nutrition, healthcare, public health, or related fields.
