About the role
The Research Associate will work with Chandrasekhar Venkataraman and Philip Herbert at the University of Sussex, as well as with Thomas Sales at University College London on the EPSRC funded project Numerical Analysis Of Free Boundary Problems From Biology. The project considers the numerical analysis of Stefan-type problems on evolving surfaces, and seeks to construct appropriate numerical schemes and their demonstrate their convergence.
About you
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Mathematics or a closely related area, or be awaiting their viva. Ideally, you will have experience with the numerical analysis and computational approximation of PDEs using the finite element method. Experience with degenerate parabolic equations, free boundary problems, or geometric PDE are all desirable but not essential. Similarly, experience with open source finite element software, such as DUNE or Firedrake, are desirable.
