About the Role

To work with Dr Scott Balchin on the EPSRC funded project “Point-free methods in tensor-triangular geometry.”

This EPSRC funded research project aims to use tools coming from point-free topology (i.e., the theory of frames and lattices) to tackle questions arising in tensor-triangular geometry. There is a particular focus on computing specific examples arising from stable equivariant homotopy theory, commutative algebra, and representation theory.

About the Person

Essential criteria:

• PhD or equivalent in Mathematics, either received or expected submission before the beginning of the appointment. This qualification should be in a field relevant to the project (e.g., tensor-triangular geometry, homotopy theory, commutative algebra, or point-free topology)
• Specific, relevant research experience in one or more of the following:
  • tensor-triangular geometry
  • homotopy theory
  • commutative algebra,
  • point-free topology
• The ability to develop and deliver high quality research to be published in peer reviewed journals in fields relevant to the project as per above.

Fixed-term contract (available for approximately 3 years). Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
