About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Executive Leadership Team, the Regulatory Compliance Officer will support UCLan London's ongoing compliance with the OfS Conditions of Registration, helping to maintain accurate evidence, records and reporting across the university's regulatory and governance obligations.

You'll play a key role in keeping the institution's compliance position. monitoring OfS notifications and regulatory developments as they emerge and making sure the right colleagues know about them in time to act, alongside  governance policy maintenance and Fit and Proper Persons administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep up to date with all OfS notifications, guidance and regulatory changes, and disseminate these to relevant colleagues and committees in a timely manner
  • Support evidence-gathering and record-keeping to demonstrate ongoing compliance with OfS Conditions of Registration
  • Assist in preparing materials and briefings for OfS registration assessments and monitoring visits
  • Support delivery and monitoring of the Access and Participation Plan (APP), including data collection and tracking against targets
  • Help maintain and update the governance policy suite (Fit and Proper Persons, Whistleblowing, Anti-Bribery, Conflicts of Interest, Fraud, Anti-Money Laundering, Freedom of Speech, Sexual Misconduct), flagging required changes to the Executive Leadership Team
  • Coordinate and track deadlines for regulatory returns and notifications to the OfS and/or the validating partner, ensuring timely submission
  • Support liaison with the validating partner university on day-to-day compliance and quality matters
  • Assist in preparing compliance reporting for the Board, ELT and sub-committees, including updates to the compliance elements of the risk register
  • Administer the Fit and Proper Persons process for staff and governors, including tracking initial and ongoing checks
  • Help deliver staff training and guidance to support a compliance-aware culture, and monitor regulatory developments
  • Support maintenance of the Student Protection Plan and Scheme of Delegation, keeping records current

About You

  • Experience in a compliance, governance, quality or regulatory affairs role, ideally within UK higher education
  • Working knowledge of OfS regulatory requirements 
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly for tracking deadlines and evidence
  • Good written communication skills for policy documentation and reporting
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external partners
