The Opportunity

Join our supportive and growing team in Keele University’s School of Computer Science and Mathematics. We deliver high-quality teaching and research across computer science, data science, mathematics and specialist areas, supporting student success and addressing real-world challenges.

As a Lecturer in Cyber Security on the Education and Research pathway, you will deliver engaging, research-informed teaching and develop an active research profile. Responsibilities include module delivery and leadership, curriculum and assessment design, and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate projects. You will connect underpinning concepts with practical security challenges, developing students’ technical skills, critical thinking and understanding of ethical and professional responsibilities.

We seek an enthusiastic educator who makes complex ideas accessible and takes an active interest in students’ progress. Through practical learning, personal tutoring and academic guidance, you will help students build confidence, overcome challenges and prepare for their careers, contributing to an inclusive and supportive environment.

You will undertake high-quality Cyber Security research, contribute to publications, external funding applications and postgraduate research supervision, and develop collaborations with academic, industry and other external partners.

You will hold a PhD in Cyber Security, Computer Science or a closely related discipline, or have equivalent relevant experience, with strong subject expertise and research achievements appropriate to your career stage. Expertise in network and systems security, secure software development, ethical hacking, digital forensics or security management would be valuable. You will bring experience of teaching or supporting learning in higher education, effective communication and organisational skills, and a collaborative approach.

Starting salaries are typically at the bottom of the advertised scale. We support flexible working wherever possible.
