Brunel has a proud history of being different. We trace our origins back to 1798 and the establishment of three technical colleges, created to educate people in professional, technical and applied subjects. Through our establishment as a University in 1966 to today, these foundations remain at the heart of our identity – we have a global reputation for the excellence of our teaching and research, and remain committed to serving the needs of business, industry and the professions. We occupy a distinctive place in the sector, and our West London location supports a diverse portfolio of partnerships across the creative, health, business and third sectors.

This is an exciting time to join the University. Our Strategy – Wielding Brunel's World-class Difference – aims to propel Brunel to new heights and establish us as a world-leading technical University, and we are on a positive trajectory. We have risen significantly in the QS World University Rankings, now placed 37th in the UK and 353rd globally (QS 2027), we are ranked 6th in the UK for research intensity (Complete University Guide 2027), and 3rd in the UK and 8th worldwide for international focus (Times Higher Education 2026). We were also one of the nation's biggest climbers in the Complete University Guide's 2027 League Table. In October 2024 we became part of the University of London federation, which has further enhanced our reputation and opened up new opportunities for collaboration.

As part of preparing ourselves for the future, we have reviewed our academic structures and moved from three to four Colleges, with Brunel Business School (BBS) now established as a stand-alone College. As its own College, BBS is able to operate with a greater degree of autonomy within our broader academic structure. The school is currently home to c.115 academic and research staff and c.2,500 students, including 99 doctoral researchers, with a turnover of c.£33m. Work is already underway on achieving EQUIS accreditation, a move which should see us placed among less than 30 Business Schools in the UK to be ‘triple accredited’.

We are seeking a talented and visionary leader to become Executive Dean of Brunel Business School. This is a wonderful opportunity to shape the strategic direction of a School which is already home to some of Brunel's most inspirational and impactful research and teaching, and to develop a distinct identity for BBS. An experienced leader with a track record at Board level, you will be confident leading strategy, managing risk and engaging internal and external stakeholders, and will provide strategic leadership of all aspects of the College across education, research, staffing and finances, playing a critical role in delivering our new Strategy.
