Reader/Senior Lecturer in Oral Biology and Dental Biomaterials

About the Role

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding academic as Reader/Senior Lecturer in Dental Biomaterials and Oral Biology to provide leadership in research, education, and innovation within the Institute of Dentistry. The successful candidate will have an established international reputation in Dental Biomaterials or a related field, with a strong track record of securing research funding, publishing high-impact research, and providing academic leadership. The postholder will help shape the Institute's strategic direction, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, mentor colleagues and students, and enhance its national and international profile. They will contribute to teaching, student supervision, curriculum development, and the delivery of a high-quality research programme. About You

For appointment at Reader level the successful candidate will hold a PhD in Dental Biomaterials, Oral Biology, Dentistry, Biomedical/Materials Science, or a closely related discipline, with an established international reputation in their field. They will have a strong publication record, success in securing significant external research funding, and substantial experience in teaching and supervising undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students. The candidate will demonstrate academic leadership, a commitment to excellence in education, and the ability to build successful interdisciplinary collaborations.

For appointment at Senior Lecturer level the successful candidate will hold a PhD in Dental Biomaterials or a related discipline, with demonstrated expertise in Dental Biomaterials. They will have a strong track record of university-level teaching, high-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals, and experience in securing or contributing to research funding. The candidate should also have experience supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research students, possess excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

It offers two undergraduate programmes,19 postgraduate taught programmes, including eight specialist clinical doctoral training programmes
