About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Trial Manager to join the Department of Bone & Joint Health, in collaboration with the Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit (PCTU), within the Centre for Evaluation and Methods at Queen Mary University of London.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in delivering the DIRECT trial. You will take strategic and operational responsibility for trial management, ensuring delivery to the highest standards of quality, regulatory compliance and scientific integrity.
You will oversee trial coordination from study set-up through delivery and reporting. This includes supervising trial coordinators, managing trial processes and documentation, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory requirements.
As part of the senior team, you will contribute to SOP development, resource planning, and represent DIRECT at key operational and management meetings.
The role offers opportunities to engage with clinical partners and contribute to impactful research.
About You
You will hold a degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline and have substantial experience managing clinical trials, ideally multi-centre studies.
You will bring a strong understanding of clinical trial governance, including regulatory approvals, ethics submissions and updated ICH-GCP requirements. Experience developing trial protocols, SOPs and training research staff is essential.
You should have excellent organisational and leadership skills, ideally with experience supervising staff. You will be confident working independently, managing priorities and solving problems in complex research environments.
Strong communication skills are essential, as you will liaise with investigators, clinical teams, trial sites and regulatory bodies.
A proactive, collaborative approach, attention to detail, and the ability to drive high-quality research delivery are key.
