Part-time Research Assistant: RELMED and RePram Studies

The Department has a substantial research programme, with major funding from Medical Research Council (MRC), Wellcome Trust and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and provides highly rated medical training in psychiatry. The Head of Department is Professor Belinda Lennox.

We are looking for a Part-time Research Assistant to support two related research studies, RELMED and RePRAM in the Department of Psychiatry.

About the Role

The post is fixed term (funded for 12 months) and is part-time (80% FTE). It is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital.  

The role includes recruiting and testing study participants, and therefore requires onsite working, within standard working hours, in the Warneford Hospital in Oxford.

The post offers you an opportunity to contribute to high-quality research in computational and personalised psychiatry, combining clinical-trial, behavioural and neuroimaging methods.

Reporting to Professor Michael Browning and Dr Beata Godlewska, you will work closely with the study teams and Computational Psychiatry Research Group. You will liaise with professionals across primary and secondary care and research services, recruit and assess people with depression, and collect, analyse and present high-quality research data. The role also involves using EEG equipment and contributing to research reports, presentations and wider project activities.

About You

You will have a first degree in psychology, cognitive neuroscience or another relevant scientific discipline, together with relevant research experience, and sufficient specialist knowledge to work within established research programmes.

You will have experience of selecting, following and adapting experimental or assessment protocols, and of gathering, managing and quality-checking scientific data from a range of sources along with experience of using EEG in a research environment and performing quality checks of EEG data.

Excellent communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with research participants, colleagues and collaborators, and to maintain accurate records and confidentiality are also essential.
