Assistant Professor in International Relations

The College of Administrative Sciences and Economics at Koç University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position in International Relations, starting in September 2027. We seek an ambitious researcher with a strong publication record to complement our faculty’s strengths in IR theory, conflict studies, foreign policy, and global governance. We especially welcome candidates specializing in great power politics, strategic competition, and the shifting international order.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in International Relations at both undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise student research, and contribute to the intellectual life of the department and university. A Ph.D. in International Relations or Political Science, preferably awarded within the past three years or expected by September 2027, is required. Interested applicants should send a cover letter explaining how their research, publications, and teaching experience relate to the department’s needs, a current curriculum vitae, up to three sample publications/working papers (at least one Web of Science-indexed journal article must be published by September 2027), a teaching portfolio (including a sample syllabus and teaching evaluations, if available, together with the evaluation scale), and three letters of reference.

Koç University is a private, non-profit Turkish institution of higher education located just north of Istanbul (college website). The Department of International Relations offers highly selective BA, MA, and PhD programs in International Relations. Students are admitted to the department through a very competitive central examination. The medium of instruction is English. Assistant Professors teach three courses per academic year until being promoted to the rank of Associate Professor. Salary and benefits are competitive.
