English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Tutor – Joint Institute of UJN and GCU

Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) and the University of Jinan are proud to launch The Joint Institute of UJN and GCU, welcoming its first cohort of students in September 2026. GCU is seeking to appoint EAP Tutor’s to support the delivery of their degrees at the Joint Institute.

Located in Jinan, the vibrant capital of Shandong Province and one of China's leading educational, cultural, and economic centres, the Joint Institute combines GCU's distinctive, professionally focused approach to higher education with the academic strengths and regional reputation of the University of Jinan. Together, the two institutions will provide students with a truly international learning experience, preparing graduates to thrive in an increasingly global workforce.

The EAP Tutor will contribute to the delivery of English for Academic Purposes provision within the Joint Institute of UJN and GCU. Working as part of the Joint Institute EAP team, the postholder will support students in developing the academic English language competencies required for study within an English-medium higher education environment.

The role operates within the Joint Institute's academic support model and involves working collaboratively with academic colleagues and professional services staff to support student academic development. The postholder will design, deliver and evaluate English for Academic Purposes provision that supports students' engagement with disciplinary content, academic conventions and assessment requirements.

The postholder will contribute to the delivery and development of academic English provision, including academic writing, academic language development, academic integrity, assessment literacy, critical reading, presentation skills and wider English-medium communication skills. They will provide guidance and feedback to students and contribute to activities that support academic development and progression.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across both institutions, the postholder will contribute to the development, review and enhancement of English for Academic Purposes provision and participate in quality assurance and enhancement activities associated with academic support provision within the Joint Institute.

The Joint Institute will deliver a range of innovative programmes designed to meet the needs of both industry and society. Undergraduate degrees will be offered in: 

• BA(Hons) Finance, Investment and Risk
• BSc(Hons) Environmental Management
• BEng(Hons)Mechanical Engineering 

In addition, the Institute will offer weekend-delivered postgraduate programmes in:

• MSc Financial Technology
• MSc Environmental Management 

Remuneration & Benefits 

GCU offers an international employment package which includes a salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience that the successful candidate is able to bring to the role.

Individuals who need to move to take up this post may be eligible for relocation support including visa assistance and travel arrangements. 

Accommodation

The successful candidate will be eligible for accommodation on campus.

Annual Leave 

35 days and 10 days public holiday. The annual leave entitlements and holiday schedule for staff shall be governed by China's official public holiday calendar and related institutional policies.
