The Childhood, Youth and Education team at UWTSD are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual with experience of working within the social work, early years or related sectors.

This is an opportunity to join a supportive and close-knit team strongly focused on supporting students’ holistic development, with passion about widening access to higher education and raising the profile of the Early Childhood Education and Care sector. The Childhood, Youth and Education team at UWTSD focus on empowering students to develop as professionals within our programmes and beyond, removing barriers to education, development, and lifelong learning. The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh (oral and written) is essential for this role.

The post of Lecturer in Childhood, Youth and Education (Social Work) will be located within the Discipline: Childhood, Youth and Education. The post holder will deliver face-to-face primarily on our Carmarthen campus, Swansea campus and Cardiff campus.

The post holder will contribute to online and face-to-face lecturing; for day, evening and occasional Saturday delivery.

The post holder will be under the line management of the Head of School but will also work under the guidance of the relevant Programme Director.

The post holder will be expected to support delivery of the Post Graduate Social Work Programme (or Programmes) of study; and delivery of other programmes within the school of Childhood, Youth and Education where appropriate, however this portfolio may expand in future. In this capacity, the post holder will be responsible for the teaching, assessment, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of the programme(s). The post holder will support the programme lead/s in the enhancement of the student experience and ensuring the programme(s) operate within a QAA framework and in line with university policies and procedures. The post holder will offer teaching and instruction up to and including post graduate supervision. The post holder will be expected to undertake scholarship, research, training and/or project work, individually or as part of a network, and will actively seek out funding opportunities, knowledge transfer, external engagement and collaboration, and professional recognition.

The post holder will be required to devise a range of lecturing and assessment materials, covering several modules and subject areas. The post holder will deliver in a variety of different learning environments and use a variety of lecturing styles and approaches, including all levels of undergraduate study and, where appropriate, postgraduate study. The post holder will offer both academic and pastoral feedback and support to students to the highest professional standards and with regard to the ongoing enhancement of the student experience. The post holder will undertake scholarship, research, training or project work, either individually or within a team, to ensure ongoing professional development and to enhance the profile of the Discipline, Institute and University. The post holder will make a positive contribution to the day-to-day activities of the Discipline that may cover areas such as dissertation supervision, student recruitment, marketing activities, research seminars and workshops, staff training and professional development.
