Social Media and Content Officer

Are you passionate about social media, with a creative eye for content and a talent for turning stories and trends into opportunities to engage audiences?

As Social Media and Content Officer, you will help shape the University’s social media presence, creating compelling content that grows reach, strengthens engagement and brings the Kent brand to life. Managing our core feeds, you’ll spot opportunities, respond to trends and work with colleagues and student content creators to keep our channels engaging, relevant and distinctive.

As Social Media and Content Officer you can expect to be involved in:

• Producing proactive and reactive content, including copy, photography, video, vox pop interviews and social media graphics
• Identifying story opportunities across the University and creating social-specific angles on Kent news and activity
• Overseeing our core social media feeds, monitoring opportunities and issues and engaging with followers
• Advising and supporting colleagues, schools and departments to develop their social media presence

What will you bring to the role?

• First degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant area, or experience working in a similar role
• Substantial experience of using social media to achieve strategic objectives across a range of platforms
• Knowledge of social media best practice, developing trends and how to spot a social ‘story’
• Excellent content production skills, including photography, video, copywriting and basic design
• Ability to work flexibly and creatively, balancing campaigns and reactive opportunities
