Associate/Assistant Professor in Intelligent Sensing and Network Communication

The Institute of Smart City Technologies (ISCT) invites applications for the position of Associate/Assistant Professor, who will also be a joint faculty member in the Faculty of Information Science and Computing (FIC), in the following disciplines:

• IoT infrastructure and devices (sensors, embedded systems, etc.)
• Sensing technologies
• IoT security and privacy-enhancing technologies
• IoT communications and networking 

Institute of Smart City Technologies - ISCT

The Institute of Smart City Technologies (ISCT), established in 2026 as an independent academic unit of the University of Macau, advances smart-city development through education, research, innovation, and technology transfer. Working closely with the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City (IOTSC), ISCT conducts research in IoT, artificial intelligence, big data, and smart-city engineering. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, talent cultivation, and industry partnerships, ISCT develops innovative solutions to promote urban sustainability, enhance quality of life, and support innovation-driven development in Macao and the Greater Bay Area. Faculty of Information Science and Computing - FIC

As part of a strategic expansion, UM recently established five science and technology faculties through the restructuring of part of its existing faculties. In which, the Faculty of Information Science and Computing (FIC) emerges from a thoughtful and forward-looking reorganization of the former Faculty of Science and Technology, reflecting our university’s commitment to sharper academic focus, greater interdisciplinary synergy, and a more agile response to the rapidly evolving landscape of information science and intelligent technologies. The Faculty brings together six interconnected departments—Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Electronic and Communication Engineering, Microelectronics, Robotics, and FinTech & Business Intelligence. Qualifications

1. A PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering or related disciplines;
2. A distinguished record of internationally-recognized research and scholarship;
3. Demonstrable competence in communication; and
4. English is the working language, while knowledge in Chinese/Portuguese will be an advantage.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty as soon as possible. 

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,052,800 (approximately USD129,980) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicant’s academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
