Intellectual Property Manager - UOD2444

The IP Manager is responsible for the effective management, coordination and continuous improvement of the University of Dundee's intellectual property portfolio and associated intellectual property management processes. Working within the Research and Innovation Operations team, the post holder will act as the operational lead for patent portfolio management, supporting the identification, protection, maintenance and commercialisation of the University's intellectual property assets.

Working collaboratively across the University's Contracts, IP and Commercialisation teams, the post holder will help ensure that intellectual property management processes align with institutional objectives and sector best practice. The role requires strong organisational, analytical and stakeholder management skills, with responsibility for building effective relationships with researchers, professional services colleagues, external advisers, funders and commercial partners.

The IP Manager acts as the central coordinator for the University’s IP portfolio, handling complex, variable and valuable information for the University

Your priorities will include:

• Work closely with RIS colleagues, IP Inventors and external patent attorneys on the filing of patents and other IP.
• Be the primary contact for external patent attorneys and be responsible for patent and other IP filings being

filed on time.

• Ensure that the agreed internal processes for IP management are followed by the team.
• Keep accurate records on decisions made, and key correspondence.
• Hold responsibility for the creation of relevant internal and external reports.
