About the Attachment Research Community

The Attachment Research Community (ARC) is a charitable organisation set up in 2017 by Virtual School Head teachers (VSHT), school leaders, psychologists, training organisations and academics, with a mission for ‘every school to be attachment and trauma aware’.

ARC’s purpose is to support all schools and education settings to be attachment and trauma aware in their practice for the benefit of all members of the learning community and particularly the most vulnerable, by bringing together, sharing and celebrating best practice.

As a membership organisation it works to:

• Supporting Schools to Become Attachment & Trauma Aware
• Enhancing Existing & Potential Collaborative Communities of Support
• Collating & Providing a National Platform for Research & Practice
• Helping to Provide & Extend a National Voice for Attachment & Trauma 

ARC supports members by opening up professional and educational pathways within a membership platform with readily available resources, regional workshops, panel discussions and virtual events that allow members to network and support each other. As well as regional events, members benefit from annual conferences, webinars and research symposiums.  

ARC works closely with a wide range of international, national, regional and local organisations, agencies, settings and associations to help support professionals working across provision for children and young people. As a leading charity, ARC supports members to commit to:

• Developing effective strategies to support children and adults
• Promoting high quality training
• Sharing your learning with the ARC network
• Working safely and with supervision
