Background of Department

We are excited to be recruiting a Senior Quality Officer (International) to join our Quality Assurance and Enhancement team. This team leads on academic quality assurance across the University, playing a central role in ensuring effective academic governance and a rigorous, responsive quality assurance infrastructure for UK and Transnational Education partnership activities.

The team is pivotal in ensuring the University meets its obligations to external bodies, such as the Office for Students and Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs), and stays current with sector best practice in quality assurance.

What will I be doing?

The Senior Quality Officer (International) is a senior administrative leadership role in the Quality Assurance and Enhancement team. In this role you will be a specialist member of the Quality Assurance and Enhancement team for the quality assurance and compliance of international partnership activity, supporting the Head of Quality (Collaborative Partnerships) to manage all aspects of procedures for transnational education partnerships (TNE), including due diligence, approval, accreditation, review, modifications, curriculum management and data reporting.

Working with academic and professional services colleagues, you will help to ensure that regulations and quality assurance procedures are both responsive to the University’s needs and effective in practice.

You will provide specialist advice to stakeholders on matters of the quality assurance of TNE collaborative provision in line with all external regulatory requirements (including those from OfS, DfE, CMA, relevant PSRBs and country specific regulatory frameworks), referring matters to the Head of Quality (Collaborative Provision) and Quality Manager (Collaborative Partnerships) where required.

Working with the guidance of the Quality Manager (Collaborative Partnerships), you will coordinate and be responsible for the organisation of approval and review panels and the active monitoring of transnational education partnerships, or designated curriculum, including the required action following key panel and academic governance meetings. You will advise upon, and conduct, quality checks on key quality assurance and compliance requirements of partner and curriculum delivery, to ensure alignment with all internal and external expectations for a high-quality student experience.

Who are we looking for?

You will bring senior administrative experience, particularly within the context of Further or Higher Education, with a strong background in Quality and Standards settings. You will have a knowledge of the Higher Education sector with specific experience of further or higher quality assurance and compliance requirements and their application, for the assurance of academic standards in a transnational education context.

You will possess excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, demonstrated through your ability to work independently and on your own initiative. You will be adept at prioritising work, identifying problems and formulating and implementing effective solutions. You will have the ability to organise information efficiently, produce comprehensive reports and make recommendations for senior colleagues. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external staff at all levels.

A commitment to accuracy and proven attention to detail are crucial, as is discretion and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. You will be accomplished in collaborative working within a complex organisation and have a clear understanding of the University’s external regulatory requirements in particular in relation to Quality Assurance of the quality assurance and compliance of transnational education and UK partnerships. In all areas, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring they align activity with external regulatory requirements (including those from OfS, DfE, CMA and relevant PSRBs) and University policy.

How will you work?

We are committed to supporting flexible methods of working wherever possible. Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align with the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders.

It is expected that the post-holder will normally be on the Canterbury campus at least two days a week; the work location will be determined by the tasks/activities being undertaken.
