The Role

You will undertake teaching and course co-ordination while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience.

Based within the School of Science you will work closely with other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.

Duties include:

• Teach on modules and courses at HE levels 4-7 in relevant academic subject areas
• Module Management & Coordination
• Active Curriculum & VLE Design
• Assessment & Quality Assurance
• Student Success & Session Facilitation

Qualifications Required

• Master's in an appropriate bioscience discipline (biotechnology, applied bioscience, molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry or related field), OR equivalent professional standing demonstrated through substantial industry experience at a senior technical or managerial level.
• Candidates applying from an industry background must also hold a good Honours degree in a relevant subject together with an appropriate professional qualification and/or membership.
• A teaching qualification or acceptance of the requirement to acquire one if not already held
• PhD or active membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous

Our Successful Candidate

You will have demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education levels 4-7 in biotechnology and the wider applied biosciences, with high standards of teaching, learning and student engagement consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider of teaching and learning. A strong awareness of how these scientific disciplines translate into the commercial sector - including familiarity with industrial biotechnology, regulatory frameworks, or project management - is required.

Direct experience within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries is highly desirable, particularly where it informs teaching on commercialisation pathways, regulatory practice, or managerial aspects of bioscience organisations.
