About the role
The department of Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment invites applications for the position of Lecturer (Teaching) in Citizenship Education. The successful candidate will join the Citizenship education team at the UCL Institute of Education. The role will involve working on an ongoing project to support teachers in countering disinformation and conspiracy theories in the classroom.
The Countering Conspiracy theories in the classroom role will involve supporting the Project Leader, delivering CPD to teachers in schools and ITE and helping to create the online programme.
The successful candidate will be expected to play a full role in the continuing development of the Citizenship Education team and there may be opportunities to contribute to the work MA Citizenship Education.
The possibility of job share will be considered
The post is offered on a part-time basis ( 0.40 FTE / 14.60 hours per week) and is initially funded until 31/08/2027.
Due to the nature of the duties, a DBS check will be required.
About you
The successful candidate will have a first degree, or equivalent experience and have Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent experience. You are knowledgeable of scholarship in the area of Citizenship education and/or media literacy/responding to disinformation and have successful teaching experience in schools and the potential to teach successfully at a higher education level (if not already experienced in this sector of education). In addition, you will have the ability to work effectively with others, co-operating with a range of academic and administrative colleagues and helping the team achieve its goals, and have a strong professional and interpersonal skills that enable effective communication and relationship-building.
