We are seeking experienced and motivated English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Associate Lecturers to join the University of Sunderland in London to teach an intensive English and Study Skills course for new students starting with us in October. The role will focus on high-quality, face-to-face teaching and supporting students to develop the academic English skills they need to engage successfully with their studies.

This is an initial two-month fixed-term role, starting ideally on 19 October 2026. All teaching will take place face to face at our modern Canary Wharf campus. Applicants must therefore be available to teach on campus for the duration of the appointment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality English for Academic Purposes teaching as part of an intensive course for new students.
  • Plan and prepare teaching sessions and learning activities appropriate to students from a variety of backgrounds and subject areas.
  • Support students to develop the academic English skills required for successful study in higher education.
  • Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback where required.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support effective course delivery and an excellent student experience.
  • Maintain appropriate teaching and student records and contribute to the smooth running of the course.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification in a subject relevant to teaching English for Academic Purposes.
  • Extensive experience of teaching English for Academic Purposes to home and international students.
  • Experience supporting students from a range of cultural, linguistic and academic backgrounds.
  • Ability to provide a high-quality, engaging face-to-face teaching and learning experience.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, collaboration and organisational skills.
  • Strong commitment to student success, inclusive learning and an excellent student experience.

Desirable

  • DELTA or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience teaching intensive English or EAP courses in a higher education environment.
