Job Purpose
Join Bath Spa University's Careers & Employability team to deliver a visible, accessible and high-quality employability service at our Canary Wharf campus, with some support for students in Birmingham. You will help students and graduates build the confidence, skills, professional identity and networks they need to progress into employment, career change, self-employment, entrepreneurship or further study. You will work particularly with mature learners, working professionals and career changers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Careers and Employability Support
- Deliver 1-2-1 appointments, drop-ins, workshops and digital resources for students in Business and Management, Computing, and Health and Social Care Management
- Advise on applications, CVs, LinkedIn profiles, interviews, assessment centres and networking
- Promote internships, mentoring, enterprise programmes and graduate opportunities, using labour market intelligence
- Support final-year students and recent graduates, and promote the Graduate Outcomes Survey
- Plan and deliver careers fairs, employer events and guest speaker sessions
- Act as the lead for Careers and Employability in the Canary Wharf One Stop Shop hub
Curriculum and Career Education
- Design and deliver employability learning within academic programmes, working closely with Programme Leaders and lecturers
- Run workshops on career management, professional identity and enterprise, in collaboration with the Enterprise team
Student Engagement and Visibility
- Represent the team at Open Days, Applicant Days and student inductions
- Develop creative ways to raise awareness of careers support
Data, Evaluation and Administration
- Maintain accurate records in Target Connect, produce monthly reports and evaluate activity to improve the service
Team Contribution
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across Careers & Employability and the wider Student Experience teams.
- Contribute positively to a high-performing and student-centred team culture.
- Share good practice and contribute to the continuous improvement of services and activities.
- Work across both Canary Wharf and Birmingham sites as required by business needs.
Person Specification Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience
- Experience delivering careers, employability, coaching, training or student development activities
- Experience facilitating workshops and presentations to diverse audiences
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of career development and graduate recruitment practices
- Strong organisational and digital skills, including Microsoft 365
- Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and student success
Desirable
- Level 6 or above qualification in careers guidance, coaching or a related discipline
- Experience in Higher Education
- Experience supporting mature learners, commuter students or career changers
- Experience with careers management systems such as TargetConnect
- Experience of enterprise education or self-employment support
Additional Information
- This is a fully on-site role with regular face-to-face student engagement
- Occasional evening and weekend work for Open Days and student events
- Support for the Birmingham campus and occasional travel to Bath as required
