Temporary cover: This post is fixed-term until 12 July 2028 or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier.
The Accessibility & Disability Resource Centre (ADRC) invites applications for a part time (0.5 FTE) Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) Screening Adviser.
The post holder will provide an initial screening service to students who identify with traits of SpLD. You will work as part of the ADRC team and also work closely with academic and support staff within university departments and within colleges, as well as with other professional services staff within the University's Student Services Centre. The post-holder will report to the Head of Centre You will be qualified at degree level (or with equivalent relevant experience). and hold a post-graduate qualification in assessing and diagnosing specific learning difficulties. You should have recent experience screening or assessing students for SpLDs and an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of legislation, regulatory guidance and debate in relation to disability equality in a tertiary education setting. An understanding of and commitment to the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) would be an advantage.
You will need excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, experiences and expectations, demonstrating a commitment to equality of opportunity. The ability to work to deadlines in a busy support service environment is essential.
