The UCD School of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering invites applications for the position of Associate Professor (Permanent) in Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering.
The successful candidate will provide academic and research leadership, maintain and further develop an internationally recognised programme of research, attract competitive external funding, and supervise doctoral and postdoctoral researchers. They will contribute to high-quality teaching and project supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including core subjects in the professionally accredited BE/ME programmes, and will play a substantive role in curriculum development, academic administration and School leadership. The candidate’s is expected to provide research leadership in emerging directions in Chemical & Bioprocess Engineering complementing or strengthening one or more of the School's priority areas: Pharmaceutical/Biopharmaceutical Engineering, Energy and the Environment, or Advanced Materials Engineering. The appointee will be expected to enhance the School's international profile and contribute to its academic, professional and wider societal impact.
The School has a long and distinguished record of research and education in Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering and offers a highly collaborative environment spanning fundamental and applied research, with industrial engagement and commercialisation activities. The appointment provides an opportunity to establish and grow a significant research programme, shape the future development of the School’s research and educational activities, and contribute to its national and international profile. We are seeking an established academic with an internationally recognised research profile, a strong record of research funding and doctoral supervision, and demonstrated achievement in university teaching and academic leadership. Candidates should also set out a clear forward-looking vision for the research, education and wider academic contribution they would bring to UCD. Associate Professor Salary Scale: €85,864 - €121,260 per annum.
Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
