Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today.

LJMU is one of the world's leading universities for Sport and Exercise Science and is recognised internationally for excellence in education, research and industry engagement. The School of Sport and Exercise Sciences is now seeking to appoint an Associate Professor of Industry Engagement and Innovation in Strength & Conditioning (0.5 FTE) to support the continued growth and strategic development of this important area.

Strength and Conditioning has emerged as a major area of study and career aspiration for undergraduate and postgraduate students, creating opportunities across elite sport, health, rehabilitation and performance technology sectors. We are seeking an outstanding academic and practitioner with significant applied industry experience who can strengthen external partnerships, drive innovation, enhance graduate employability, and contribute to our internationally recognised research profile. This 0.5 FTE appointment is designed to enable you to retain active industry involvement, ensuring that contemporary professional practice continues to inform curriculum development, student experience and research activity.

You will make a specialist contribution to the academic work and research culture of the School, predominantly within Strength and Conditioning. The role has been created to strengthen the school’s strategic position through enhanced industry connectivity, knowledge exchange and innovation, ensuring students gain meaningful professional experiences and industry-relevant skills.

You will contribute to broader School strategic agendas and fulfil any other duties commensurate with the grade as deemed necessary by the Director of School or Line Manager.

Informal enquiries can be made to the Subject Leader Dr Mark Robinson at m.a.robinson@ljmu.ac.uk.

In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction and development support, flexible working opportunities and family-friendly policies.

This is an exciting time to join the University as we deliver the LJMU Strategy 2030 and its vision of LJMU as an inclusive civic university transforming lives and futures by placing students at the heart of everything we do.

If you feel that this is the role you have been looking for and your skills and experience can make a real difference at LJMU, we look forward to hearing from you.
