Description
IE University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Public Law of IE Law School. The appointment will begin on September 1, 2027.
The Department of Public Law of IE Law School brings together scholars whose research and teaching span a wide range of fields, including public international law, European Union law, constitutional law, human rights, administrative law and regulation, criminal law and procedure, and tax law.
We seek candidates with an original and relevant research agenda and the potential to build a strong record of high-impact publications. Consistent with the school’s global orientation, we are interested in scholarship that speaks to audiences across jurisdictions and contributes to broader debates about law, institutions, societal challenges, and public policy.
We welcome methodological diversity, including comparative, transnational, empirical, socio-legal, economic, political economy and other interdisciplinary approaches, alongside doctrinal and theoretical work.
We welcome applications from candidates across all areas of public law, although subject areas of particular interest include climate, environmental and energy law; international economic and trade law; human rights; and tax law.
English is our working language and the primary language of instruction. Most courses are taught from a transnational or comparative perspective. Knowledge of Spanish or Spanish law is therefore not required.
Departmental Fit
We recognize that many areas of legal scholarship cross traditional disciplinary boundaries. However, we ask candidates to apply to a single position, choosing the one they believe best fits their research and teaching profile. This choice will not prevent an application from being considered for a different position if we believe there may be a better fit.
What we offer
Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD in Law or JSD/SJD (or demonstrate clear evidence that their PhD or JSD/SJD will be completed by July 2027).
Application Instructions
To be considered, please create your dossier and apply no later than November 10th by clicking the 'Apply' button
Early applications are encouraged.
Longlisted candidates will be invited to a video interview. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to present a recent publication or a work-in-progress on campus.
Pre-submission inquiries about the positions may be addressed to Sara Junquera (sara.junquera@ie.edu), Executive Director of Faculty and Accreditations at IE Law School.
