About the role:

Are you an experienced anatomy, laboratory or technical services professional looking to take the next step as a Human Anatomy Unit Deputy and Lab Manager?

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the leadership and day-to-day operation of Imperial's Human Anatomy Unit. Working closely with the Human Anatomy Unit Manager, you will help ensure the delivery of high-quality anatomical, clinical skills and pathology teaching facilities that support undergraduate, postgraduate, external education and research activities.

What you would be doing:

We are seeking an organised, proactive and collaborative individual with experience of working in a technical, laboratory, anatomy or clinical skills environment.

You will ideally have:

As the Human Anatomy Unit Deputy and Lab Manager, you will:

  • Support the leadership and operational management of a multidisciplinary anatomical services facility.
  • Supervise and support a dedicated technical team, ensuring the effective planning and delivery of teaching and operational activities.
  • Coordinate the preparation and delivery of anatomy, clinical skills and pathology teaching sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with the Human Tissue Act 2004, Human Tissue Authority (HTA) standards, health and safety legislation, and institutional policies.
  • Oversee the maintenance, development and efficient use of teaching facilities, equipment and resources.

What we are looking for:

  • The post holder should hold a degree in Anatomy, Biological Sciences, or a related scientific discipline, or possess an equivalent vocational qualification or substantial relevant teaching laboratory-based experience.
  • Experience working at a senior technical level in an Anatomy teaching laboratory or similar environment
  • Experience in line management.
  • Experience in supervising staff, students, and groups
  • Experience in training staff
  • Experience in implementing HR protocols
  • Experience in utilising IT packages
  • Experience in providing management and information reports.
  • Experience in Quality management and inventory management practices
  • Working knowledge and experience of HTA regulations
  • Experience in designing and implementing SOPs and HTA documents
  • Working Knowledge of developing and implementing Health and Safety Regulations and Legislation
  • Working knowledge of chemical, hazardous waste, and environmental safety standards.
