Salary: Standard Grade 7: Salary in range £39,424 - £43,984 per annum (pro rata). This is inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,730 per year (pro rata).
We are seeking to appoint a Programme Manager in AI for Infectious Diseases to join the Pandemic Sciences Institute (PSI) at the University of Oxford. You will support a major Gates Foundation-funded programme focused on building sustainable, locally embedded capacity in AI-enabled infectious disease modelling across African national public health institutes and research institutions.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of the programme, overseeing plans, milestones, risks, budgets and funder reporting across five work packages. The role includes coordinating international partnerships, organising training workshops and stakeholder meetings in Africa, administering a research mini-grant scheme, supporting evidence-gathering and programme evaluation, and managing communications and dissemination activities.
It is essential that you are educated to degree level, with significant experience managing complex, multi-partner programmes or projects, ideally in research, global health or international development. You should have experience of budget monitoring, financial reporting, event and workshop organisation, excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities and solve problems independently. Experience working with partners in Africa or low- and middle-income countries, international funders, small-grant schemes, training programmes, or AI, data science and infectious disease research environments would be advantageous.
Applications for this vacancy should be made online and you will need to upload a supporting statement and CV. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience. Please restrict your documentation to your CV and supporting statement only. Any other documents will be requested at a later date.
This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract until 1 August 2029 and is funded by The Gates Foundation.
Only applications received before 12 midday on 9 November 2026 will be considered. Please quote 189044 on all correspondence.
