We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Department of Psychology as a part-time Research Grants Administrator. The Department holds around 70 active research grants and has a busy and varied research funding portfolio.
The post holder will contribute to the provision of a comprehensive and efficient research management service across the full lifecycle of research grants, supporting pre-award and post-award activities and helping to ensure the effective administration of all research funding activity within the Department.
The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for research grant related queries from researchers and professional service colleagues, including finance and HR. They will be expected to develop close working relationships with academic staff and with the University's Research Operations Office to support the delivery of research projects and ensure compliance with university, funder and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience in an administrative role, preferably within a research, higher education, finance, accounting or grant management environment. However, we also welcome applications from candidates with administrative, financial or organisational experience who are looking to develop their career in research administration. This is a varied and rewarding position requiring excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, together with a collaborative approach and a willingness to solve problems and support colleagues in a busy and dynamic environment.
Candidates should be educated to 'A' level standard, to include GCSE English language and mathematics/NVQ level 3 or have an equivalent level of practical experience. Good IT skills, including Word, Excel and emails are a requirement. Use of bespoke financial, grant or reporting systems is desirable. Previous experience in a fast-paced environment is essential.
In return, we offer an encouraging, supportive and inclusive environment with an opportunity for the role holder to cultivate and progress their career.
